Traffic Homicide Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate a fatal hit and run crash that occurred Saturday evening at 8:30 p.m. on Kenton Morrison Rd., just north of Four Mile Rd. and evidence from the crash has been reported to Historic City News.
A 15-year old female victim, Haley N. Smith, St. Augustine, was walking with two friends when she was struck. The vehicle did not stop and was last seen fleeing south on Holmes Boulevard.
Found at the scene of the crash was the passenger side mirror from the suspect vehicle. The mirror is an aftermarket reproduction mirror that could fit different types of small pickup trucks and SUV’s.
At this time, we are looking for a small pickup, unknown color, which should have damage to the passenger side head-light area, and a missing or recently replaced passenger side mirror. There may be damage to the passenger side windshield and passenger side A-pillar, which supports the windshield.
