St Johns County Fire Rescue Lieutenant Kurt Kevin Johnson is one-of-four men arrested in Volusia County last night in an undercover prostitution investigation on South Ridgewood and Freemont Avenue, an area known for prostitution in Daytona Beach.
Johnson, who has been employed with St Johns County for over 30-years, since August 5, 1982, is accused of agreeing to pay $50 for a sex act to a police officer posing as a prostitute on the street. Johnson will turn 56-years-old on Tuesday.
City of Daytona Beach Police Chief, Mike Chitwood, reported that two sexual predators and a man with cocaine were also arrested in the sting. Johnson was picked up at 11:38 a.m. He has been charged with solicitation to commit prostitution and cited for using his vehicle for prostitution or lewdness.
His tenure and rank with the St Johns County Fire Rescue put his earnings at $76,187.19 annually, including overtime. Johnson posted an appearance bond of $500 at the Volusia County Branch Jail at 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening and was released.
