Emily Jane Murray informed local Historic City News reporters that the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve will participate in the Blue Star Museum Program this summer, offering free admission to the Environmental Education Center for military personnel and their families.
The Research Reserve is located at 505 Guana River Road in Ponte Vedra Beach.
“The Research Reserve is proud to support our active military families by offering them free admission to our Environmental Education Center,” Murray told reporters. “Show your military ID at the front desk between Memorial Day and Labor Day (May 27 to September 2) to enjoy our exhibits, programming and scavenger hunts without charge.”
More than 1,800 museums in the United States have partnered with the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families and the Department of Defense to offer free admission to active military personnel and their families.
The Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve is one of 28 National Estuarine Research Reserves around the nation focused on researching, educating, and protecting the natural biodiversity and cultural resources within the estuary.
It is managed by Florida DEP’s Coastal and Aquatic Managed Areas in partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
