Historic City News learned today that Tools-4-Schools, Betty Griffin House, and St Francis House in St Augustine are the beneficiaries of a nine-month charitable giving program undertaken by the staff of Herbie Wiles Insurance.
According to an announcement by the local insurance and financial services company, during the past 9 months, employees of Herbie Wiles Insurance paid a total of $494 for the privilege of wearing jeans on Wednesdays.
This week, Doug Wiles, President of the company, reported that the money was used, in part, to purchase school supplies for Tools-4-Schools; a county wide school supply drive held annually before the start of the new school year. The program directly benefits the teachers and students in St Johns County schools.
Additionally, socks, underwear, cleaning items and more, were purchased for use by the Betty Griffin House in St Augustine and an array of food, hygiene products, sunscreen and more, for St Johns County’s emergency shelter, St Francis House.
Pictured is just a sample of the items being donated.
