Over the past year, we have been evaluating the most efficient way to handle the feature that set us apart from other news publications in St Augustine during our formative years — a provision for interactive commenting on news articles published on our website at historiccity.com
We have determined that each of our Internet properties has found their own audience which is loosely defined as follows:
historiccity.com
Our 24-hour news portal is the repository for all of our news articles, editorials, and photo journal reports. It contains the full text of every article as well as an online antecedent history which goes back to 2008. This is the place to go to learn more from our complete archives.historiccitynews.com
Our gateway to facebook and all of the social media features available. This is the place to go to post remarks about breaking news stories, add your opinions or visit our photo galleries; compiled from events happening in and around St Augustine, St Johns County and the Beaches.twitter.com/historiccity
All the news that fits in 140 characters — including the URL. This is the place for “on-the-go” readers, who also want to be “in-the-know” throughout the day. Follow us on twitter and you’ll be notified as soon as each article is posted to our website. If the topic is of interest, just click the embedded link to be taken to the full story with pictures.
After going back and forth with costs, convenience and efficiency in mind, the decision was reached to use facebook as our platform for news comments. If you aren’t already registered on facebook, signup today for a free account.
You will no longer have to maintain a user account on historiccity.com in order to add comments to articles that pique your interest — while you are logged in to facebook, just fill out the box at the end of the article as you’ve always done. You can also share the article on your facebook page with one click.
We hope you’ll enjoy the new comment procedure, it was a smart decision whose time has come.
