Jennifer Tesori, St. Augustine’s Community Liaison for THE PLAYERS Championship Boys & Girls Club, announced to Historic City News that it has selected Kirstyn Wilder, a seventh grade student at Murray Middle School, as its “Youth of the Month”.
Factors including service to the Club, community and family, performance, moral values, life goals, and leadership abilities are considered by staff in bestowing this honor to a club member who demonstrates exemplary character and serves as a leader to their peers in the club as well as the community.
“Kirstyn helped to design and publish the inaugural edition of the Club’s newsletter,” Tesori told Historic City News. “She is a great public speaker and enjoys the club’s vocal program and art lab.”
According to Tesory, Kirstyn consistently excels in school and continues to expand her studies through programs such as Skills Tech, Smart Moves and Money Matters at the Club. Kirstyn enjoys soccer and basketball and is excited to be a new member of the Murray Middle School soccer team. She has plans to attend college.
Kirstyn and her brother attend the St Augustine Boys & Girls Club daily; she is eager to participate in all aspects of the Club and in her community. Kirstyn is a BGC Junior Staff member and provides a positive role model to others.
“This month, we are inviting all Historic City News readers to tour our facility during our January Open House on Tuesday, January 22nd from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.,” Tesori told reporters.
The St. Augustine Club, located at 555 W. King Street, is devoted to youth development outcomes and incorporates key elements into activities that encourage its members to become productive, caring and responsible citizens. The Club strives to engage, inspire and enrich each member daily with fun, time tested programs in an after school setting.
