Lieutenant Jeremy Robshaw announced to Historic City News that as of Tuesday, September 3, St Johns County Fire Rescue will be decreasing lifeguard staffing levels on all St Johns County beaches.
The Labor Day Holiday traditionally marks the end of the summer beach season, and it will conclude the seasonal tower staffing provided each year.
Although lifeguard towers will no longer be staffed, mobile truck patrols through the various beach zones will continue until mid-September.
Beach patrons are reminded to utilize the 9-1-1 system for any emergency occurring on St Johns County beaches. These emergencies will continue to receive a Fire Rescue response throughout the year.
