Historic City News is pleased to introduce “Making the Grade” — Florida’s first radio talk show focused solely on education issues. The new program airs each Wednesday on WFOY 102.3 FM following Rush Limbaugh.
The hour-long weekly program hosted by Kim Kendall, debuts tomorrow, August 7th, beginning at 3:00 p.m., and will feature Speaker of the House, Will Weatherford. Following Weatherford will be Governor Rick Scott, Florida Home Education Foundation President Brenda Dickinson, and US Congressman Ron DeSantis.
“Making the Grade will address education’s hard-hitting issues; such as Common Core Standards, Prayer at Graduation, Home Schooling, School Choice, Parent Empowerment, Early Learning, and College Requirements,” Kendall told local Historic City News reporters. “We want to offer solutions on each show that promote positive, conservative change in the state.”
Listeners can participate in the program and voice their opinions each Wednesday beginning at 3:00 p.m., live on the air, by calling 904-797-1919. Callers have a chance to win some fantastic giveaways including accommodations to the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island, Jacksonville Symphony Tickets, golf course foursomes, and restaurant gift cards.
“Providing our children with a quality education is the key to ensuring Florida remains globally competitive,” Weatherford told Kendall in a prior interview. “Our education reforms continue to raise the bar in the classroom, empower our best and brightest teachers and ensure every child can succeed.”
As important as education is to our state, Kendall says so is our listeners’ time. She promises that each hour will be packed with important information and will give specifics on how the listeners can impact education reform needed in our county and in our state.
“With the launch of 102.3 FM, we’ve renewed our commitment to cover St Johns County like no one else does,” said WFOY President Kris Phillips; who Kendall credits as the “brainchild” behind the unique program. “As a mom and political activist, Kim brings a unique perspective to the show. We want listeners to feel like this show is a community-wide conversation about issues that really matter.”
