March is Florida Archaeology Month

Historic City News was informed that Dr Barbara A Purdy will lead a discussion of Florida’s wet sites and how they have increased our knowledge of the state’s ancient inhabitants when the St Augustine Archaeological Association holds its March 5th meeting.

The presentation, titled “Penetrating the Darkness of Time”, will be held in the Flagler Room of Flagler College in St Augustine beginning at 7:00 p.m.

A Sunny Point Archaeological Survey is also on the Florida Public Archaeology Network calendar for Northeast Florida with volunteers conducting a shovel test survey at this site in Palatka.

March 1: Students’ Day–Putnam County schools are invited to bring students out to take part in the survey and learn about archaeology. To register your class for a time, please contact Amber Weiss.

ECHO Ranger Program: Timucuan Technology
