Historic City News readers are invited to participate on Saturday June 1st from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. when the 4th National Marina Day comes to Camachee Cove Yacht Harbor in St Augustine.
Make plans now to enjoy the day’s activities; including a nautical knot tying contest, blindfold dinghy race, pirate dunk tank, casting contest, children’s carnival games, and powdered donut scallywag. The fun begins with a homemade sailboat regatta for children.
“We look forward to serving St Augustine as a gateway for family and friends to enjoy one of America’s greatest national resources, its waterways,” said Wendy Thomson. “National Marina Day recognizes the important recreational, environmental and social contributions marinas make to thousands of waterfront communities all over America.”
Educational displays will dazzle both children and adults from marine history to whale watching, Thomson told local reporters. Boat rides and sailing demos, a nautical flea market and maritime vendors, a silent auction and boat displays will keep everyone busy.
“Swashbucklers and pirates will raid the harbor,” said Thomson. “Don’t ye miss the cannon firing, black powder rifles and sword fights.” It promises to be a fun day for all.
The charitable fundraising event benefits the Rodeheaver Boys Ranch for needy boys.
