The Office of Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner, Gerald Bailey, announced that tomorrow afternoon, Historic City News will be able to obtain a copy of the 2012 Annual Uniform Crime Report for the State of Florida.
This report contains crimes reported to FDLE from January 1 – December 31 of 2012. The Uniform Crime Reports are used by public agencies and private businesses to evaluate trends, up or down, in the commission of serious criminal acts.
Locally, the tourism and travel industry is interested in the figures; which can affect vacationers and the overall housing market. Using data included in the report, allocations of emergency services and law enforcement resources can be better focused on emerging threats — like gang violence or drug trafficking.
Bailey is attending the Southwest Florida Police Chiefs Association meeting, and has scheduled a press conference on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. when the information will be made available.
Data was submitted by 403 Florida law enforcement agencies, representing 99.9 percent of the state’s population.
