Sergeant Anthony Cuthbert reported to Historic City News that up to sixteen St Augustine Police Officers will be having their heads shaved Friday afternoon in a show of support for two fellow officers who are battling cancer.
The St Augustine Police Benevolent Organization is sponsoring the event. The 501(c)(4) organization was founded in 1955 to “aid in the welfare of the general public and its employees”.
“We are trying to raise money to help these brave, local police officers with their medical expenses,” Cuthbert told reporters this morning. “We are hoping to raise $5,000 by the conclusion of tomorrow’s Shave to Save event to assist these officers.”
Shave to Save kicked off February 1, 2013, and Cuthbert said there is still time to mail in a check donation, drop of cash or check donations at the Police Department, or donate by credit or debit card on their fundraising event website https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/bQMU7
If you plan to attend, the “Shave to Save” event will be held at the St Augustine Police Department, located at 151 King Street in St Augustine, beginning at 4:00 p.m. The address to mail checks payable to St Augustine Police Benevolent Organization is PO Box 1950, St Augustine, FL. 32085. Your donation for these officers and their families is tax-deductible.
