St Augustine’s 18th Annual Rhythm and Ribs Festival wrapped up yesterday, and Historic City News was proud to help sponsor the many activities in what turned out to be one of the best celebrations of spring presented by the local Sunshine Rotary Club.
“Let the cooking begin”, was the cry Friday; as a wide assortment of barbecue aficionados began the challenge of preparing three days-worth of stick to your ribs … well, ribs!
Shredded, sliced, pork or beef, even chicken, served pulled, grilled, smoked — any way you like it. Brisket to die for, with roasted ears of corn, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, and, top it off with lemonade.
There was non-stop music all weekend long; but, Sunday, was a day for the kids — with those 12-years-old or younger getting in for free.
