Deputy Rafael Fuentes informed local Historic City News reporters that this afternoon, beginning at 4:00 p. m., more than forty runners and Special Olympians will carry the torch during the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
The participants will check in at the Neil J. Perry Criminal Justice Complex, in front of the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office located at 4015 Lewis Speedway in St Augustine.
“As many as fifty runners may turn out this afternoon,” Fuentes told reporters. “If you are driving in the area, please use extra caution as the participants take to the street.”
The course will take the runners south on US-1, continuing onto San Marco Avenue, and finishing at the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument.
