Laurie Sanderson reported to Historic City News that the first total closure of the Crescent Beach Bridge is coming in about two-weeks; made necessary for steel and machinery work at the center span — part of the electrical and mechanical repairs to the drawbridge.
During the closure, motorists may use the SR-312 Bridge as an alternate route.
“Since this $3.3 million project began, Quinn Construction, Inc., of Palmetto, has employed lane closures and traffic shifts,” Sanderson told reporters. “This is the first of several full bridge closures planned during this project, contracted to be completed by the end of 2013.”
The Crescent Beach Bridge on SR-206 is scheduled to be closed beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 26 and to reopen by 5:30 a.m. Monday, April 29. Although it is expected that the bridge will be totally closed to traffic during that weekend, those dates are subject to change depending on bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
This Florida Department of Transportation project includes rehabilitating and replacing electrical and mechanical portions of the drawbridge to maintain reliability of the bridge and prevent future breakdowns and delays.
