Historic City News has learned that an 88-year-old St Augustine Beach woman who was walking in the crosswalk of A1A-Beach Boulevard in the area of Whispering Oaks Circle, was struck by a passing vehicle and suffered possible life-threatening injuries at 8:20 a.m. this morning.
St Johns County Sheriff’s Traffic Homicide Investigators responded to the scene and have filed their preliminary report, according to Media Relations Officer, Kevin Kelshaw.
The investigation has revealed that 28-year-old Sean Christopher Surguine, of Saint Augustine Beach, was traveling northbound operating a 2004 Mazda on A1A-Beach Boulevard when he struck the pedestrian. Surguine was not injured.
The pedestrian, identified as Ida Goss Buckler, was stabilized at the scene and airlifted to the UF Health Hospital Trauma Unit in Jacksonville. According to Kelshaw, the patient is in stable conditions.
Charges are pending further investigation.
