St. Francis House Executive Director Judith Dembowski reported to Historic City News the recent donation of nearly $400 from the Resident Council of Allegro Senior Living in St. Augustine.
St. Francis House is the only full-time emergency shelter between Jacksonville and Daytona Beach. The non-profit charitable organization provides individuals, and families with children, with emergency shelter.
“I want to thank the residents and staff at Allegro for reaching out to support the critical services St. Francis House provides to the homeless and less-fortunate,” Dembowski told local reporters.
This year, St. Francis House is celebrating 30 years of service to the St. Johns County community.
In their time of need, St Francis House attempts to support those who are struggling to regain their independence by offering temporary shelter, food, clothing and referral to other programs and agencies on an individual basis.
The Allegro staff presented their check for $383.00 on Tuesday, June 24, 2014. Dembowski said that St Francis House’ need always exceeds their resources. Even small cash donations go directly toward the cost of delivering critical assistance, emergency shelter, and essential human services.
