Evidence suggests Charlie Crist sold judicial appointments

Nicole Sanders, a thirty-three-year-old law student at Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, reports to Historic City News in St Augustine that she has uncovered evidence that suggests that Republican-turned-Independent-turned-Democrat, Charlie Crist, used his position when he was governor to “sell” judicial appointments in exchange for political campaign contributions.

In a timeline of events that begins in August 2008, compiled by Sanders and published in a recent conservative newsletter, Charlie Crist appointed Scott W. Rothstein to the Judicial Nominating Commission.  Rothstein is a disbarred lawyer and the former managing shareholder, chairman, and chief executive officer of the now-defunct Rothstein, Rosenfeldt, Adler law firm.

Five months later, in January 2009, Crist appointed Barbara McCarthy and Carlos Rodriquez to seats on the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit; based upon the recommendation of the Judicial Nominating Commission that Rothstein served on.  Both McCarthy and Rodriquez listed Rothstein’s law partner, Russell Adler, as a “reference” on their application for their judicial appointment.

Two days later, after McCarthy and Rodriquez had received Crist’s appointment, Rothstein’s firm contributed $100,000 to the Republican Party of Florida.

Seem like a coincidence? Sanders observed that “nothing in politics is a coincidence”.  She says it proves Charlie Crist is corrupt and can be bought by others, even convicted felons.

Crist’s “Circle of Trust” has been exposed to Floridians as being nothing more than a circle of distrustful men that Crist has confided in.  They have only shamed the former governor with all of their colorful backgrounds and past shenanigans.
