The Flagler College Student Government Association has informed local Historic City News reporters that they will sponsor a candidate debate on campus the evening of Tuesday October 14th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and all Historic City News are invited to attend.
The event is open to the public and will take place in the Virginia Room of the Ringhaver Student Center, located at 50 Sevilla Street in St Augustine. There is no cost to attend the function and there are a limited number of metered parking spaces along Valencia Street and Markland Place that are free after 5:00 p.m.
“The Student Government Association believed it would be beneficial for the school to host this event since the elected officials will directly affect the town that Flagler students, staff, faculty and administration live in,” said Donn Garby, treasurer of the Flagler Student Government Association and president of the Flagler College United States Military Veterans Club. “We also believed that it would be beneficial for students to get hands-on experience with local politics.”
