Free bike parking for 30th Annual Bridge of Lions 5k
Director and President of the Velo Fest Community Initiative, Heather Neville, told Historic City News that her organization has partnered with event promoter RaceSmith for this weekend’s 30th running of the Bridge of Lions 5k.
From humble beginnings, the event has grown to 1,000 participants over the years.
“Our goal this weekend is to have a few extra bikes on the road which leaves more car parking for our out-of-area visitors who must drive to the event,” Neville reported. “Whether running, walking, or cheering on your favorite St. Augustinian, consider riding your bicycle to the event knowing you will have somewhere to park.”
Participants leave from the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument; but, bicycle staging, with additional temporary parking racks, will be placed at Oglethorpe Park on Arredondo Avenue and Oglethorpe Boulevard.
Neville cautions participants to “Remember to bring a lock, to rack your bike — either by the seat, or, the handlebars, a drink a lot of water.”
