Governor visits Grumman this afternoon

About 2:00 p.m. this afternoon, Florida Governor Rick Scott will visit the Northrop Grumman plant at the Northeast Florida Regional Airport, according to the Historic City News sources in the Executive Office.

Christine McGlade, vice president of manufacturing operations, and site manager for the Northrop Grumman Corp “Center of Excellence” in St Augustine, told Historic City News that the US Navy will fulfill its earlier contract, and has award an additional contract to build five more E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircraft through June 2016.

“More aviation jobs are on their way to the region,” a Scott spokesman in Tallahassee reported. “We are told some 400 new jobs are expected to be created due to the company’s expansion.”

This week the governor’s office and cabinet were excited to learn that Florida businesses created more than 20,000 jobs during the month of March.

“For the eighth consecutive month, Florida’s unemployment rate remains well below the national average of 6.7 percent,” Scott announced to those attending the ceremony at Northrop Grumman. “In total, Florida’s economy has added more than 563,000 private sector jobs in just over three years, giving more Floridians the opportunity to succeed.”

The governor told local Historic City News editor Michael Gold, that our businesses are continuing to grow, and Floridians are continuing to find more opportunities to get back to work and provide for their families. “Let’s keep working until everyone who wants a job can get one,” Scott remarked.
