Assistant State Attorney Travis Mydock, who prosecuted the state’s case against a St Augustine man for selling hydrocodone pills on SR-16 in August of 2012, reported to Historic City News that the defendant was convicted of the first degree felony charges today by a St Johns County jury.

Trafficking in hydrocodone, between 14 grams and 28 grams, carries a minimum mandatory prison sentence of 15 years; however, prosecutors tell local news reporters that they will seek to have 39-year old J.H. Hardy, whose last known residence was on Railroad Street, classified as a habitual felony offender — which could double his maximum possible prison exposure.

A sentencing hearing will be set by the court in the coming months.

The Honorable Judge Michael Traynor presided over the case.
