Letter: Make objections known Monday night
Melinda Rakoncay, president
Nelmar Terrace Neighborhood Association
Dear Editor:
It is important to let the city commission hear why you are opposed to the 7-Eleven going in at the corner of San Marco and May Street during general public comment at the City Commission Meeting tomorrow, Monday December 8th.
The meeting will be held in the Alcazar Room of City Hall — facing the courtyard of the Lightner Museum at 75 King Street in St Augustine starting at 5:00 p.m.
General Public Comment is at the beginning of the meeting after proclamations. You should fill out a card indicating that you wish to speak during general public comment. You will have up to 3 minutes to address the commission and then, you may leave.
If possible, please plan to return and speak again during general public comment on Monday, January 12, 2015. The city commission will not be taking up the 7-Eleven issue at either of these meetings, but it will be your only time to effectively give your input on this very important matter that will impact our future.
The appeal hearing will be held Thursday, January 15, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. You are encouraged to be a member of the audience at the appeal hearing; but, due to time limits for each side, we are asking that all our time be given to our attorney for the presentation of our case.
