Historic City News has been informed that a St Johns County man, scheduled for a court appearance on Monday, October 6th, has mysteriously disappeared today under suspicious circumstances after he placed a call to emergency 911 operators to report that he was involved in a boating incident.
The man, 49-year-old John Charles Price, who resides at 3335 Pacetti Road in St Augustine, was arrested September 26, 2013, during a joint child pornography investigation conducted by the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Cyber Crimes Unit, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. He was charged with 51-counts of possession of obscene material; each count is a third-degree felony. Price was released from custody four-days later after he posted an appearance bond of $255,000.
“This morning, he told dispatchers that he was in the area of the SR-206 Bridge, had some type of boating incident and sustained an injured arm,” media relations officer Kevin Kelshaw told Historic City News local reporters.
Deputies searched the area on ground, in the water as well as in the air and have not heard from Price since his phone call. Neither boats nor canoes were located in the area after the extensive search, nor other evidence of foul play.
Price is described as a white male, 49-year-old, 6’1”, 240 pounds with gray hair and blue eyes.
Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of John Charles Price, or who may know additional details concerning his apparent disappearance, is asked to contact St Johns County sheriff’s detective Matthew Bellamy at (904) 209-1635. You can remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward up to $1,000 by calling Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida 1-888-277-8477.
