Last night at about 7:00 p.m., Historic City News learned that Flagler County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Sergeant with the Bunnell Police Department; following a three-month long investigation into allegations that the officer used a fraudulent facebook account to exploit a child to obtain illegal computer pornography.
Agents at the Jacksonville Regional Operations Center of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement began the investigation in December 2013 after receiving a complaint regarding 30-year-old, Michael Gerard Stavris II who resides in the “K” section of Palm Coast.
“The investigation shows Stavris created a fraudulent Facebook account posing as a teenage girl,” Gretl Plessinger told reporters at Historic City News today. “Using this fraudulent account, he solicited teenage boys. After the conversations turned sexual, Stavris requested sexual photos from the victims.”
Stavris has been released on $125,000 bond on two counts of computer pornography and violation of the Child Exploitation Prevention Act, and one count of criminal use of personal identification information.
The Office of R. J. Larizza, State Attorney for the 7th Judicial Circuit, will prosecute the case.
