School grades released today

The Florida Department of Education released grades to Historic City News today, indicating the performance of the state’s school districts. St. Johns County School District has continued to maintain its ranking as one of the top performing districts in the state.

Twelve elementary schools, four middle schools and the district’s only K-8 school were “A” schools this year. St. Johns County had 17 “A” schools, four “B” schools, and five “C” schools.

“I am very proud of the efforts from all of our schools and this year’s grades reflect excellent improvement,” said Superintendent Dr. Joseph Joyner. “This is a great finish as we transition to the new system in future years.”

The 12 elementary schools receiving an “A” are Cunningham Creek Elementary, Durbin Creek Elementary, W. D. Hartley Elementary, Hickory Creek Elementary, R.B. Hunt Elementary, Julington Creek Elementary, Ketterlinus Elementary, Ocean Palms Elementary, Palencia Elementary, PVPV/Rawlings Elementary, Timberlin Creek Elementary and Wards Creek Elementary.

The four middle schools with an “A” are Fruit Cove Middle, Alice B. Landrum Middle, Pacetti Bay Middle and Switzerland Point Middle. Also receiving an “A” is Liberty Pines Academy (K-8).

Mill Creek Elementary, Otis A. Mason Elementary, South Woods Elementary and R. J. Murray Middle schools received a “B” this year. Crookshank Elementary, Osceola Elementary, Sebastian Middle and Gamble Rogers Middle schools and The Webster School all received a “C” this year.
