FHP Sergeant Bryan Dylan reported to Historic City News that police are looking for the driver that struck and killed a pedestrian standing near their disabled vehicle on I-95 this morning.
Just before 7:00 a.m., near Mile Marker 309, traffic homicide investigators responded to the report of a 37-year-old Davie, Florida man, who’s 2006 Ford E-250 was disabled on the right shoulder of Interstate 95 northbound.
After notification of his nearest relative, Bryan identified the victim as Rafhel A. Mahese. The crash would have occurred between Friday night at 11:30 p.m. and this morning at 6:20 a.m.
There are currently no reported witnesses to this hit-and-run collision; however, troopers believe another driver, or passenger in another vehicle, may have seen the collision and can help identify or locate the person responsible for the pedestrian’s death.
The preliminary investigation reveals that an unknown vehicle, possibly a white semi-truck or motorhome that has a broken right headlight and may have dark gray transfer paint on the bumper, collided with Mahese as he stood near the front fender of his disabled vehicle.
