While the men are in the area assisting with several controlled burns, part of their job training, they were staying at the local Holiday Inn at 1302 North Ponce de Leon Boulevard.
On Saturday evening, January 31st, St Johns County Fire Rescue was called to the scene of a third-floor guest room at the hotel where the occupant had apparently been stabbed. By the time police arrived, due to the reported severity of the patient’s injuries, emergency medical personnel were already preparing him to be transported by air ambulance.
Police investigators, who are reporting that the victim’s injuries are “non-life threatening”, are continuing their investigation. Officers did interview witnesses at the scene, however, the names of those involved have not yet been released.
No information was provided indicating whether anyone has been arrested in this matter.
