Rebecca Prado, program administrator of the Florida Coastal Management Program, reported to Historic City News that the state department of environmental protection is ready to introduce the “Florida Beach Access Guide”.
This new interactive web-based guide enables beachgoers to locate every public beach access point and accompanying amenities throughout Florida.
“More than 2,000 public beach access points along Florida’s coasts are pinpointed with this free mobile interactive map,” Prado said. “Features include location, amenities and driving directions, while enabling users to explore more of Florida’s coastline by identifying beaches that meet their interests.”
St Johns County access points are mapped in the Atlantic Coast region; although the “Florida Beach Access Guide” also identifies sites in the Panhandle Region and the Southwest Florida Coast.
Detailed information is presented about parking, ADA accessibility, showers, picnic areas, boardwalks, trails, camping sites, fees and driving directions in each region. Fishing piers and coastal accesses found within state parks are also provided.
