Beginning November 3rd, Historic City News has learned that assessors with the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation will begin evaluation of Florida’s top law enforcement agency to see if they are meeting more than 80 compliance standards.
As part of the accreditation process and on-site assessment, the team invites agency members and the public to offer comments.
“Comments must address the agency’s ability to comply with the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation standards,” FDLE Public Information Officer Gretl Plessinger told local reporters.
Regional office visits will be conducted in Pensacola by Deputy Chief Rick Hawthorne with Gulf Breeze Police Department, in Jacksonville by Ray Beltz with Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, and in Miami by Luanne Smith-Horton with Coral Springs Police Department.
“We will need to examine FDLE’s policies, procedures, management, operations, and support services in addition to conducting interviews and visiting offices,” said Assessment Team Leader, Deputy Chief Joe Monteagudo with Key Biscayne Police Department.
If you would like to participate in the public commenting process, you may receive a copy of the standards through FDLE’s Public Information Office by calling (850) 410-7001.
