Kevin Kelshaw, Media Relations Officer for the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office, informed local Historic City News reporters that deputies arrested two local men earlier today after K-9 tracking dogs located them. They were in possession of property stolen in a residential burglary that occurred yesterday evening.

Deputies found 34-year-old Joseph William Perkins, whose last known address was 9 Park Avenue in St Augustine, in possession of the keys to the stolen pickup truck used to make good the escape from the victim’s home.

The pickup truck was located in a vacant lot behind a nearby residence and provided the scent needed for the tracking dogs.

Other items identified by the victim and reported stolen were in the possession of 20-year-old Joshua Lawrence Bogert, who lives at 2473 A1A South.

Perkins and Bogert were each charged with burglary, grand theft of controlled substances, grand theft of a motor vehicle, grand theft of credit cards, and possession of a controlled substance.
