Today, the Florida Sheriffs Association announced to Historic City News that Motorola Solutions Foundation has generously made a $20,000 donation to create a STEM Scholarship program for hard-working students who are pursuing a career in a STEM-related field.
The scholarships will be available for students who are sons and daughters of full-time employees at sheriff’s offices across Florida. This was made possible through the Motorola Solutions Foundation’s Innovation Generation grant program, which provides support for Florida students in emerging fields.
“Ensuring today’s students have the knowledge necessary to excel in STEM-related fields will make our state more competitive,” said Steve Casey, executive director of the Florida Sheriffs Association. “The Florida Sheriffs Association is grateful for the Motorola Solutions Foundation’s support for this critical scholarship program.”
The Motorola Solutions Foundation created the Innovation Generation Grant program eight years ago to support educational experiences that spark students to turn their dreams into the innovations that will shape our society’s future
To be considered for the scholarship, students will submit a five-page application and an essay. The applications and essays will be reviewed by a committee of representatives from the Florida Sheriffs Association whose members will select the recipients.
“We are proud to provide these students with support in the classroom so they can follow their dreams of working in one of the STEM fields,” said Matt Blakely, executive director of the Motorola Solutions Foundation.
Details and the deadline will be announced soon.
