Attorney Megan Wall has invited all Historic City News readers to the Coastal Community Center, located at 180 Marine Street in St Augustine, when she offers a free presentation, “How to Avoid Being a Victim of Fraud, Abuse and Scams” from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 15th.
This presentation is scheduled in recognition of the designation of June 15th as Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
“Scams are everywhere from the unlicensed contractor, to the phone call from a credit card company, or the IRS, to an email from a friend asking for emergency funds,” Wall told local Historic City News reporters. “As they become more and more sophisticated, it becomes more and more difficult to distinguish fact from fiction.”
Wall is the managing attorney for St. Johns County Legal Aid. She received her bachelor, master and law degrees from the University of Florida, joined the Legal Aid staff in 2002, and became the managing attorney in 2005.
Wall has served on the 7th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission, the Executive Council on the Public Interest Law Section of the Florida Bar, President of the Putnam and Flagler County Bar Associations and as Vice-Chair and Chair of the Ethics Committee for the 7th Judicial Circuit.
In other words, she knows her stuff! And she can help you know yours!
This public service is offered without charge or reservations. If you need more information, please call the Council on Aging at (904) 209-3700.
