The Florida Park Service is inviting all Historic City News readers to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on July 15th, when an additional 34-site campground will be opened at Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area.
The existing oceanfront camping area enjoys a 96.1 percent occupancy rate; one of the highest occupancy rates of any campground in the Florida State Park system.
“The campground at Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area is wildly popular,” a spokesman for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection told Historic City News in St Augustine. “The new campground overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway and provides thirty sites for RVs and four sites for tent campers.”
State and local officials will be attending and speaking at the ceremony. The recreation area and campgrounds are located in Flagler Beach at 3100 South Oceanshore Boulevard (SR-A1A).
