Two events scheduled for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend will necessitate brief road closures and are likely to cause brief traffic congestion.
Right to Life March, Saturday, January 17, 12:00pm
The procession will depart the Mission Nombre de Dios on San Marco Ave. at 12:00pm (noon) and walk south to South Castillo Dr. to St. George St., continuing to the Plaza de la Constitución for an event lasting until 2:00pm.
The procession will necessitate the brief interruption of vehicular traffic along those portions of San Marco Ave. starting at noon and lasting for approximately half an hour.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Remembrance
Monday, January 19, 11:45am
The procession will depart St. Paul’s AME Church, 85 Martin Luther King, Jr. Ave. at 11:45 a.m. and walk to the Gazebo in the Plaza de la Constitución along M. L. King, Jr. Ave., and King St. for an event lasting until 2:00pm.
City schedule for Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday
Offices for the City of St. Augustine will be closed on Monday, January 19 in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, but there will be no change in solid waste or recycling collections that day.
St. Johns County, FL – In observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, all departments of the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners, Administrative offices, branches of the Public Library, Pet Center, and Extension Office will be closed Monday, January 19. All offices will resume standard business hours on Tuesday, January 20. Garbage, recycling, and yard debris collection schedules will not be delayed.
