Vice President for Public Affairs, Diana Haynie, reported to Historic City News that more than 80 golfers participated Monday in the 21st Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser for the First Militia Chapter of the Association of the United States Army.
The tournament, whose purpose is to raise funds to assist soldiers and their families in the surrounding area, was played at The Golf Club at South Hampton.
The Association of the United States Army is a non-profit organization providing numerous college scholarships to deserving students, Haynie said.
With a score of 59, the first place winning team included David Swindull, Mike Wroten, John Bridges, Brian Sousa, and Brigadier General (Ret) Richard Capps, who serves as Executive Board President and is the former Chapter President.
