For the second time this month, the City of St Augustine has failed to control the weather, delaying further this year’s celebration of Arbor Day. Historic City News was informed by Public Affairs Director Paul Williamson that a final attempt will be made Monday afternoon.
On Monday, January 25, just prior to the City Commission’s meeting, the saplings that were intended to be distributed at the ceremony will be given away.
Residents can obtain a sapling in the loggia outside the Alcazar Room at City Hall, 75 King Street, starting at 4:30 p.m. while the supply lasts.
The City Commission meeting starts at 5:00 p.m.
Chuck Lippi, chairman of the Street Tree Advisory Committee, will present the Commission with a new “Tree City USA” flag. This is the 33rd year St. Augustine has received the distinction.
