This morning, 5/16/2016 at about 9:55 a.m. on SR-13 at Lawhon Drive in St Johns, Historic City News learned that 35-year-old Jeremy Adam Stratton was killed in a 2-vehicle clash.
According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, Stratton, who lives in Switzerland, FL, was traveling southbound on SR-13 driving a 1997 Ford Explorer. A 2008 Ford F350 truck with four occupants was traveling northbound on SR-13 when it collided with Stratton’s vehicle.
An unnamed St Johns County Sheriff’s Deputy was traveling immediately in front of Stratton, and witnessed the collision in the rear-view mirror of his patrol car.
The crash report says that, for unknown reasons, Stratton crossed the center line into the northbound travel lane and into the path of the approaching F-350, driven by 38-year-old Gregory Maurice Solomon of Jacksonville.
Just prior to impact, the witness reported that Stratton attempted to re-enter the southbound lane, unsuccessfully. Stratton overturned as a result of the impact with the F-350 and came to final rest on its roof facing north on the west shoulder of SR-13.
Passengers in the F-350 included 34-year-old Heriberto Negron, 21-year-old Clinton Robert Barlow, and 30-year-old Alonzo Phillips, all from Jacksonville. No charges are pending in the crash and no other injuries were reported.
Stratton was a graduate of Allen D. Nease Senior High School and was engaged to marry Johnna Rogow.
