Drop-off school supply donations with Tax Collector

In an effort to help public school teachers prepare for the 2016-2017 academic year, the St. Johns County Tax Collector informed local Historic City News reporters that donation barrels will be available at all five branch locations to accept school supplies throughout the month of July.

Teachers spend an average of $600 of their own money each year on school supplies, according to Investing in Kids (INK), a direct support organization of the St. Johns County School District.

“Our teachers give of themselves – their time, talent and treasure – for the good of our children throughout the school year,” said St. Johns County Tax Collector Dennis W. Hollingsworth. “Providing collection sites for donated classroom supplies is the very least we can do to say we appreciate their vocation.”

Blue barrels, provided by “Tools 4 Schools”, will be located at each of the five SJTC branch offices July 5th to August 5th.

Please drop off any type or quantity of new, unopened school supplies to help the teachers, including extra reams of copy paper, tissues, cleaning supplies, filing materials and art or writing supplies.
