Emergency Management issues final storm report

St Johns County Emergency Management spokesperson, Kelly Wilson, reported to Historic City News that county operations are winding down for events related to Tropical Storm Colin.

Today’s Weather:  A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 10am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 88. Breezy, with a southwest wind 8 to 15 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.

In their final situational report today, following Governor Rick Scott’s Executive Order 16-136 declaring a state of emergency, the following conditions were announced:

• Tropical Storm Warning cancelled for St. Johns County

• Flood Watch cancelled for St. Johns County

• Small Craft Advisory for adjacent coastal waters cancelled at 2:00 p.m. today.

• Caution is advised today due to lingering flooding problems and some scattered debris.

• Red Flag conditions exist on area beaches and Marine Rescue is advising people to use extreme caution when in the ocean.

• St. Johns County Marine Rescue is staffing towers and will be patrolling the beaches.

• In relation to coastal impacts from the passage of Tropical Storm Colin, St. Johns County Beach Services has temporarily secured beach gates and removed travel lane infrastructure.

• Vehicle access is expected to be effected through Wednesday June 8th at 2:00 p.m.  Subject to change dependent on conditions.

• St Johns County Road and Bridge sand bag operation ended at noon.

• Garbage collection today will take place as normally scheduled.

• Due to the improving weather situation, the bookmobile stop originally scheduled for this afternoon at Publix at Nocatee Town Center 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. will continue.
