How many Historic City News readers own the ugliest Christmas sweater ever? The Lightner Museum will give you an opportunity to prove that theory on Thursday December 22, 2016 when they dispense with their traditional “classic” flare in favor of a more pleasingly distasteful Christmas cocktail party.
You are cordially invited to don your most ostentatious Christmas sweater and join the curator and staff from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., in the Lightner Museum’s Grand Ballroom Gallery when they take “tacky” to the next level for a museum cocktail party that is sure to make lasting memories.
“If you can turn heads while wearing the ugliest Christmas sweater at the party, you can be declared the “winner” and could go home with a $100 gift certificate for Café Alcazar,” Communications Specialist Jennifer Jordan told local Historic City News reporters. “We’ve put together this wonderful Christmas event and admission is free of charge. All we ask in return are donations for beverages.”
Historic City News Editor in Chief, Michael Gold, is considering the public debut of his soon to be famous Christmas Lights suit, and you certainly won’t want to miss that. So, drape yourself in tinsel and come to the Lightner Museum Thursday December 22nd, where the eggnog flows and the red and green Jell-O glows!
In case you get a little fuzzy remembering the yuletide evening of fruitcake, Christmas cookies, Jell-O and eggnog, a photo booth will be available to capture those special moments when you show all of St Augustine that you weren’t about to let the fact that you have absolutely no talent as a singer stand in the way of a demonstration of your singing ability.
Café Alcazar, located in the Historic Pool area of the museum, will be open with a specialty dinner menu from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at special holiday prices. Plenty of free parking is available behind the Alcazar after 5:00 p.m.
The Lightner Museum is a non-profit cultural institution sustained by the generous support of individuals, businesses and sponsors. Donations are appreciated.
