Residents of West Augustine and surrounding communities will be holding a much-needed Cemetery Cleanup Day beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday December 10th, at the Woodlawn Cemetery and Historic City News readers are invited to pitch in.
We were contacted by Daniel Carter who said that he is acting on a request from longtime St. Augustine resident, Margaret Logan. According to Carter, Logan has many family members and friends who have been laid to rest in this cemetery.
“The conditions of the historic West Augustine cemetery have been deplorable over the last few decades,” Daniel Carter told local reporters. “Family members have been very concerned with the upkeep of the cemetery as it does not have a groundskeeper.”
This will not only be a community clean-up day, but also a day for the West Augustine community to come together, Carter said.
About 40-50 people have confirmed online that they would attend but more are expected according to Carter.
