This evening soon after 5:00 p.m., Historic City News reporters were alerted by the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office in St Augustine that detectives were on the scene of an alleged “road rage” incident that resulted in the shooting of a 30-year-old St. Johns County man.
Media Relations Officer K. R. Kelshaw informed local reporters that deputies were called to respond to the 8700 block of East Church Street in Hastings to investigate a shooting.
An adult male victim had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was taken by air ambulance to Orange Park Medical Center for further treatment.
The accused shooter fled in a dark colored passenger vehicle, a surveillance video still frame was circulated by the department.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that the victim and suspect got into an argument while each was driving their vehicle. They pulled into the Kangaroo parking lot in Hastings to continue the argument.
The verbal argument escalated when the suspect obtained a handgun and fired multiple times striking the victim.
Detectives have identified the shooter as Marveno Dwayne Scriven, 29, 309 Richardson Place, Hastings. He was brought in for questioning and charges are pending further investigation.
The investigation is continuing.
