Historic City News has learned today the entire legislative delegation of St Johns County endorsed Hunter Conrad in his bid for Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller. The delegation includes State Senator Travis Hutson and Representatives Paul Renner and Cyndi Stevenson.
Governor Rick Scott appointed 29-year-old Conrad to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former clerk, Cheryl Strickland. Conrad began serving the appointment on Friday, October 30, 2015. The appointment ends on January 2, 2017.
“I am humbled and honored to have the support of St. Johns County’s Representatives Paul Renner and Cyndi Stevenson as well as our State Senator, Travis Hutson,” Conrad told local reporters. “Each of them has worked tirelessly for this community and it is my hope to follow in the footsteps of true public servants, like them.”
High praise came first from Senator Hutson: “Hunter is a known fiscal conservative who cares about his employees and the people of St. Johns County. Since taking office, he has shown engaging leadership, tireless work ethic, and an exciting vision. It’s for these reasons that I announce my support to keep Hunter Conrad as our Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller.”
Representative Renner also spoke of Conrad’s vision, as well as his background: “Hunter’s vision and passion for his constituency and the office he holds comes through in every conversation. Additionally, with a background in both accounting and as an attorney, Hunter is uniquely qualified to provide competent direction and bold leadership for the office. I am excited to endorse Hunter Conrad.”
Representative Stevenson added: “I am delighted to officially announce my support for Hunter Conrad as our Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller. Hunter is just the type of innovative, energetic, and conservative leader that we need in government and in St. Johns County. I look forward to working with Hunter for many more years to come and hope you will join me in my support of him.”
