Rachael Bennett
County Commissioner District 5
St Johns County, FL
Dear Historic City News Editor:
The last four years have truly flown by, and it is a bittersweet experience to sit down to write this last newsletter to everyone.
Being a commissioner for St. Johns County has been an incredible experience, and has allowed me to meet so many fabulous people.
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I consider all of the blessings that I have experienced as a commissioner. I have come into contact and had the pleasure of working with so many people who are giving their time, talents, and treasure to make this world a little bit brighter. Their dedication has been an inspiration to me and a goal to which I aspire.
What would our County be without the people who live, work, create, play, and love here? It is YOU who make this such a special place, and I am honored to have been able to see the generosity, intelligence, and goodwill exercised by so many for these past four years.
The recent hurricane also brought home to me how great the County employees are. They are good at their jobs, they try to continually improve their ability to serve the public, and most of all – they care. My heart goes out to each person who suffered any kind of loss in the storm – and my hat is off to all SJC employees who gave their best to help others even though they, too, had suffered. I recognize, applaud, and appreciate all that you do.
I could ramble on about what I accomplished, what I think, and so on, but that is not the point of this message. My message to each person is simply a huge “THANK YOU!” It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve you as a commissioner.
Finally, I step out of office with full confidence in my successor to the seat, Henry Dean. Please feel free to email him at bcc5hdean@sjcfl.us to welcome him to the Board of County Commissioners.
Thank you, and God bless you all!
