The St. Augustine Art Association welcomes Historic City News readers July 23rd through August 28th when more than 125 original works of nature art will be on exhibit during the 7th Annual Nature & Wildlife Exhibition.
The juried exhibition, selected this summer from over 400 entries submitted by fine artists from across the United States and abroad, offered a prize purse of $5,000.
“Each year, this exhibition gets better and more interesting,” said Elyse Brady, Executive Director. “We’re attracting artists whose unique interpretations of the natural world will intrigue everyone.”
Included are images of wild animals, plants, landscapes, birds and marine life, represented in paintings, ceramics, sculpture, photography, drawings, collages, glass art, fiber works and more.
- The exhibition opens with an OZ-inspired reception and awards party, July 23rd, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tickets are available by calling (904) 824-2310.
- During the exhibition, special programs will take place in the gallery, including a “Go Wild For Art” Scavenger Hunt for children.
- On Friday, August 3, Audubon Florida will present a free lecture called “Birds & the Ecology of Art” at 7:00 p.m. Reservations are requested.
The St. Augustine Art Association, located at 22 Marine Street in St Augustine, is free to the public Tuesdays through Saturday noon to 4:00 p.m., and on Sundays, 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Docent-led tours are offered daily.
The Nature & Wildlife exhibition is sponsored in part by the Tourist Development Council. Proceeds from events and art sales benefit Audubon Florida and the art education programs of the St. Augustine Art Association, one of the oldest non-profit art organizations in the region.
