Based on imagery collected by the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office air unit and vendor ticket sales, Hardwick estimates a crowd of 25,000 to 30,000 people attended the annual celebration.
“The City of St. Augustine Beach Police Department wants to thank our residents and visitors for attending the Beach Blastoff and making the event an incident-free success,” Hardwick told Historic City News. “We appreciate the Beach Blast Off attendees treating our law enforcement and medical personnel with dignity and respect.”
The St. Augustine Beach Police Department, St Johns County Sheriff’s Office, St. Augustine Police Department, and St. Johns County Fire Rescue all participated in providing emergency services for the event.
The dedicated men and women of these agencies allowed our event guests to attend with a sense of safety and security, Hardwick said.
The live music stopped for the evening at 10:00 p.m. and by approximately 11:30 p.m., the venue was empty. The main thoroughfare to the event (A1A Beach Boulevard) reopened to motor vehicle traffic in all directions shortly thereafter.
