Ralph Richard “Rick” Goodwin, 61, a native of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away in Green Cove Springs, Fla., on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, after fighting so hard to survive this illness that struck him suddenly.
Born on June 25, 1954, to Ralph and Jeanette Goodwin, Rick attended local schools and graduated from St. Augustine High School, class of 1973. He was an avid Jacket fan and supporter who attended all the games, especially when his son played. He was also an outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting.
But his true passion was his children and nieces and nephews. They were all his heart and soul. Rick’s other passion was his work at Bozard Ford, where he believed in his customers, honesty and respect. He worked there 17 years, and for him every day was a new adventure. He truly loved the Bozard Ford Family.
Rick was a devoted Christian in life and brought many people to the Lord through his word and belief.
Rick was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Mason Goodwin, brother-in-law, Tom Stephens, niece, Mykalya Ladley, nephew, Robbie Bennett, mother and father-in-law, John and Wanda Bennett.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kathie Bennett Goodwin; sons, Brandon Chase Goodwin and John Paul Bennett; daughter, Katie Marie Bennett; mother, Gloria Jeanette Goodwin; sisters, Elaine (Ted) Lunestad and Pam Stephens; brothers, Darrell and Chris Goodwin; aunt, Rita Lambert; in-laws, Mary (Robbie) Robinson, Sarah (Jerry) Hayes, John Robert Bennett and James (Krista) Bennett, who was his best friend and partner in crime in hunting; 22 nieces and nephews; 25 grandnieces and nephews; and numerous cousins throughout Florida, Texas, West Virginia, South Carolina and Georgia.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2016, at Anastasia Baptist Church with Dr. Clarence Blalock officiating. A visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. will precede the services.
