On Monday, May 9, the City Commission adopted its strategic plan for 2017, the first step in developing and passing a budget for the next fiscal year. Historic City News readers will want to plan to participate at available public hearings.
The strategic plan outlines 10 specific objectives grouped under four goals that will be supported by the budget once enacted and put into place starting on October 1.
Those goals and objectives are:
- Livability
Communication and on-line presence to promote citizen engagement
Infrastructure planning and construction
Mobility planning
Provide resources for our homeless population - Authenticity
Historic Preservation Planning
Arts and Culture Enhancement - Character
Event management
Zoning update - Vitality
Capital plan financing
Sustainable best practices
Budget Preparation Meeting Schedule
Most of the special topic meetings will be held just prior to regular city commission meetings while other budget discussions will be included as part of the regular meeting’s agenda. All meetings will be held in The Alcazar Room, City Hall, 75 King St., and are planned to be available for live and on-demand viewing via www.CoSATV.com.
