Anthony W. Cuthbert has moved into his new role as Unit Commander, Operations Division following his six-year duration as Sergeant, Internal Affairs and an illustrious career in law enforcement, 19 of which has been spent with the City of St Augustine.
Cuthbert, a 1992 graduate of the University of Central Florida, B.A. in Criminal Justice and an inaugural executive graduate of the Executive Leadership Course at St Johns River Community College, now undertakes the role of oversight of the Operations Division, essentially the heartbeat of the department.
Cuthbert has held roles ranging from Honor Guard, Firearms Instructor, Traffic Homicide Investigator and Reconstructionist and Glock Armorer amongst a number of others, in addition to his memberships on the Florida Internal Affairs Investigators Association, Acting as Treasurer for St. Augustine Police Benevolent Organization and Trustee for the St. Augustine Police Officers’ Retirement System.
Commander Cuthbert was recognized by his peers as SAPD Officer of the Year in 2012 and that same year by the Sons of the American Revolution with the vaulted “Law Enforcement Medal”.
The role of Commander, Operations was formerly held by Barry Fox, who has now moved into the position of Assistant Chief of Police. Commander Cuthbert previously held assignments as special events supervisor and patrol sergeant early on in his career.
